💬 Our Story

Hey, I’m Paula — candle slinger by night, massage therapist by day, and proud chaos-coordinator of Say It With Wax.

It all started when my mum got me a candle-making kit one Christmas. I gave it a go, fell in love with it, and before I knew it, my kitchen looked like a candle crime scene.

But I realised something, I didn’t just want to make pretty candles. I wanted to make ones that actually mean something… or at least make you laugh while you’re lighting them.

Because life’s serious enough, right? Bills, chores, and the general nonsense of being an adult. Sometimes you just need something that smells lush and makes you smile.

So every candle I make is hand-poured in small batches with eco-friendly soy and coconut wax, and fragrance oils that are phthalate and paraben free. Basically: no weird stuff, just good vibes.

Whether you’re buying for your best mate’s breakup, your mum’s birthday, or just because you fancy a treat, there’s a candle here with your name (and probably your sense of humour) all over it.

Oh, and every 50 candles sold plants a tree with the National Trust.

Light one up, have a laugh, and enjoy a bit of wax therapy.

ABOUT OUR CANDLES

What are your candles made from?

All candles are hand-poured in Surrey using vegan-friendly soy wax and premium-quality fragrance oils that are paraben-free and phthalate-free.

Do your candles actually smell strong?

Yes, lovely, I test every blend thoroughly to make sure it fills a small and medium room without being overpowering.

These candles are bold in both name and scent.

What size are the candles?

All candles are approx. 200g and burn for around 40 hours (depending on how you care for them).

What kind of wicks do you use?

High-quality cotton wicks designed to burn cleanly and evenly with soy wax, no crackling, no soot clouds, no drama.

Why are your candle names so cheeky?

Because life is serious enough, your candles don’t have to be.

Say It With Wax is all about beautifully-scented chaos that makes you smile every time you light it.

CANDLE CARE & SAFETY

How do I stop my candle tunnelling?

Your candle has a memory.

So on the first burn, please let the wax melt edge-to-edge (around 3–4 hours). If you skip that step, tunnelling may occur, even with the best candle.

How long should I burn my candle for?

No more than 3–4 hours at a time. This keeps the burn smooth and the scent throw beautiful.

Should I trim the wick?

Yes, always trim to 5/6mm before each burn. It prevents sooting, improves scent throw, and keeps the flame steady.

Why is my wick mushrooming?

A tiny mushroom is normal. A big mushroom means the burn was too long, trim it back before relighting.

Why is there soot on my jar?

Usually caused by a wick that needs trimming or a draft nearby.

Trim, reposition your candle to a place without a draft, and burn again, that usually sorts it out.

SCENTS, INGREDIENTS & SENSITIVITIES

Are your fragrance oils safe?

Yes, all fragrance oils are IFRA compliant, vegan-friendly, and phthalate and paraben-free.

Do you use essential oils?

Not anymore, they’re beautiful in massage but don’t always behave in candles.

Some essential oils can make candles smell dusty or “fuel-like” when burned.

My Fragrance oils are created for candles and give a safer, cleaner, stronger scent throw.

Are your candles suitable for people with allergies

They are made with safe ingredients, but always check the CLP (the label on the bottom of the product) label on each product.

If you’re sensitive to fragrance, maybe choose a lighter scent, or you can contact me to discuss.
